Junko Shimura
 Junko Shimura is in charge of the cross- cutting issues of the CBD, Invasive Alien Species, and Taxonomy. She also works in the task team for Access and Benefit Sharing.
She received Ph D in Immunology at the University of Tokyo in 1984. After her postdoctoral research at the Univ. Tokyo, she served as a research scientist and later as a senior research scientist at the Japan Collection of Microorganisms at RIKEN. Between 2000 and 2007 she, as a principal investigator, has lead several projects relevant to Global Taxonomy Initiative and biodiversity informatics at National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan.
