OFI FISH HEALTH SEMINAR

Maarssen, The Netherlands, 8 May 2008

OFI FISH HEALTH SEMINAR

At Interzoo 2008, on Friday May 23rd, Ornamental Fish International (OFI) will present its 2nd Fish Health Seminar. The great success of the first Seminar at Aquarama 2007 necessitated a continuance at this seminal event for the international pet supplies market.

Topic of this year’s seminar: The DNA Multiscan Project. The DNA Multiscan project has been developed for quick, within 36 hours, identification of the presence of over 60 disease-causing organisms in fish and promises to become an invaluable tool for the industry.

Presenter of the seminar is Prof. Dr. Kris Willems of the University of Leuven (Belgium) and the authority on fish diseases Dr Gerald Bassleer.

Prof. Dr. Willems will highlight HACCP-procedures (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) and the use of the new technique for the safety of the fish and operators in the industry.

Dr Bassleer (OFI president) will emphasise the application of such a diagnostic technique for the farmer, breeder, exporter, importer, shop, veterinarians, inspecting authorities and all others involved in the ornamental fish industry.

The seminar will be held in the Messezentrum, Room Oslo, 16:00-17:00 h. This meeting is open to all interested people. However, full is full.

Access for non-member: 100 Euro per person, OFI members free
