Dear members,
TURKYS AQUARIUM
In the last week we were informed about the closure of Turkys Aquarium in Brazil and the detention of its owner Asher Benzaken on accusation of trade in illegal fish species. Several members have sent us the email that was sent around by the Benzaken family and asked us for comments.
Turkys Aquarium is a valued and long-term member of OFI but on the other hand as we have stated several times before that OFI condemns trade in illegal fish.
We are in the process of collecting reliable information about this case from publications, governmental agencies in Brazil and from our member Turkys Aquarium to give a proper response to this issue.
