- INVOICES SENT TO MEMBERS THIS WEEK
- NOW SIX MEMBERS DECLARED THEIR QUALITY
- IMPORTS OF SHRIMPS INTO NORWAY PROHIBITED?
***** AGAIN CHANGES IN THE EUROPEAN HEALTH CERTIFICATES The European Commission will adapt the legislation around imports of fish susceptible to Spring Viraemia of Carp (SVC), Bacterial Kidney Disease (BKD), Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis (IPN) and Gyrodactylus salaris (GS). The present import health certificates will be adapted to this new legislations and a few new lines will be added to Annex IV-A (for open ornamental farms) and IV-B (for closed ornamental farms) and Annex II for trade of SVC susceptible species within the European Union between SVC free countries for open facilities).
The adapted health certificated will be introduced per 1 April 2010 with a transitional period until 30 June 2010. The new certificates will of course become available in the OFI website.
INVOICES SENT TO MEMBERS THIS WEEK This week the invoices for 2010 will be sent to all members per mail. On request we will also sent it per email (please contact Roberto Hensen). The basic fee has been unchanged at 650 Euro. Due to changes in the worldbank PPP list the reductions to members in low-income countries have been changed in some cases.
SIX MEMBERS HAVE DECLARED THEIR QUALITY Since the message thee weeks ago two more members have declared their expertise by filling in the OFI Code of Conduct declaration: Promotora Bama and Agrexco. More members are working on it! We will announce all of them to fellow members in our website and every now an then with a press release. Benefit now and fill in the relevant declaration and guarantees.
IMPORTS OF SHRIMPS INTO NORWAY PROHIBITED? Our Norwegian Executive Board Member Svein Fosså informed us that Norway is now aiming at a disease free status for White Spot Syndrome (WSD). Such a decision is a great benefit for the export of Crustacean seafood products, an important product for Norwegian exports. Consequence of such a decision, which could be based on historic freedom, is that import of all shrimps for ornamental purpose is restricted to export from countries or exporting farms, which are officially free of the disease. In daily practice this means an import stop as currently we are not aware of any supplier country with a disease free status for the whole country or with officially disease free export farms. If your country or your farms are officially declared free of WSD, please report it to the OFI secretariat so we can add that to your data in the OFI website. In that case you may expect new customers from Norway as soon as the new legislation is in place. ***** With kind regards, Alex Ploeg & Roberto Hensen OFI Secretariat
